    no this time it seemed to rev high up the hill (I wasn't pushing it at all), then shut down. M+S lights flashing when I pulled over. it was also low on fuel. waited a while, primed it and it started but ran rough so I shut it down. he's tried a new fuel pump no result there. could be the injector loom I know that needed doing. it was at his place for a week and he ran it around a bit without incident. I was looking forward to doing the loom myself and sealing it up etc but I've asked him to do it now, we shall see.....

    oh i forgot, plugged in the nannocom, new codes;

    10-02 Fuel Pump Drive Open Load
    22-01 Road Speed Missing.

    told the mechanic he said "I don't go off codes"

    well, turns out the bores are worn, compression below 300 all round, so we're stuffed.

    gotta wonder, why did he not do a compression test before doing the bottom end rebuild and charging me $2000??

    If you have a landy specialist in your area ( or even a decent mechanic) take it there and get them to check that the valve timing is correct , as its almost impossible for all bores to wear so fast that it dies on the way home, the rocker cover will have to come off and when it does make sure they check the injector rockers / shaft, I've seen a couple where the roller on the injector rocker have seized causing enough stress /load on the camshaft that it A can cause the chain to stretch giving what may have been your first problem or B , causing the cam sprocket to get pulled past its normal adjustment effectively retarding the timing , stopping the engine and giving no start/ low compression,

    Thank you. This guy is a Land Rover specialist! He did a wet test on the compression apparently. Should I be taking him to task for doing the bearings without checking the compression first?

    Don't want to tell another mechanic how to suck eggs but ask him to check cam timing with his locking pins and inspect injector rocker shaft first , we'll go from there , will send you a pm later when I get a chance
