Hi everyone, I have bought a replacement door of the wrong colour and need to remove the door handle for a respray.
I have tried and tried to get it out. Not as easy as the rear door as it has what looks like a pipe going into the back of it.
Can any one PLEASE tell me how to go about it?
Cheers Nick.

SubscriberFrom memory you need to take the top off the door, remove mirror and then there is two bolt/screws each end and lift of top of door, or maybe its lift up top of door.Thats all to make room to access the section behind the window runners. Took me a while to work it out but did mine with minimum tools in a cv park
cheers

if you just want to take the outside handle off.
remove door card
remove the torx bolt at the top inside of the door (it is the one nearest the top) The others are around the door actuator.
slide the door handle towards the front of the car (it is in a slot)
the door handle will come away from the door at the rear first.
Note you will need to remove the metal rod that connects to the door lock actuator.
also if it is the drivers door, when you reinstall it, make sure the long rod with the X bit on the end locates into the door lock actuator, otherwise your key wont work the doors.
I'll post up some pics of the handle (I just stripped a D2A)

Thanks Clintooo. That is just what I needed. The pics would be great too. You are right , it is only the handle I need to remove so the door colour can be changed. Thanks again.
If you look at the picture of the full handle, you can see the tab that hooks in at the front.
other picture shows the threaded section that the torx bolt screws into. You should be able to work out which one it is.
note the plastic sections that hold the rods that will open the door and the door lock.
once you get the rods disconnected, and the bolt off, it will slide forward and pull out. Mine did stick on the rubber/plastic surrounds, but it will come out.
that long pin with the X on the end will slide into the hole in the door lock actuator. But the way it is mounted it will drop slightly when you put it in the door, so you will need to put your hand in from the inside and guide it into the hole (maybe I should get a gig writing for playboy).
The previous owner of my car had replaced the door lock actuator but not ensured that pin was in the hole so the key never worked the doors (which is why I know you need to get it in there otherwise it wont work)

no probs.
the video is good as he has some closeup video of how to remove the rods (having watched this previously helped). I used a dental pick to flick the tab up on mine. I bought a set of them on ebay years ago, they come in very handy as they are a hard stainless steel and don't bend.
pm me your email if you want me to send you the pics in full size

SupporterNick you only need to remove the torx screw located above the striker assembly and unclip the rod from the key lock you can then tap the handle assembly gently from the torx hole and the handle will pop out at the lock end
