Well, I'll certainly try and avoid that.

Non Landrover....but broken valve stem that totalled engine. Tray back fron Sunshine Coast to Sydney. We flew home, all thanks to NRMA. Since then a blown auto box hydralic line which dumper all the trans oil all over Victoria Rd Gladesville in peak hour traffic. Flat trayed to repairer.

First tow was when it shredded the serpentine belt due to a seized idler pully.
The tip I have here is every 40'km I changed the belt and all pullies(adjuster/idler/fan) and put them
    in the back as spares.

Second, third and forth was the timing chain breaking, yes 3 of them and then it went to another member as a non runner.

Flat towed it home behind the RRC when the turbo let go 4km from home.

Like wise when the cooler hose swages let go 1km from work.
Flat towed it to the yard to strip the pipes out.

Managed to drive it to the automatic repaired by manually selecting 1 to start off when the sprag clutch broke.

    Hope this helps too...

I've seen three different td5's with this , every one had head work where some halfwit had used silicone between head and cam cover which had very effectively blocked the oil galleries supplying the lash adjusters.

I did check the oil passages on strip down, no blockage there. I was the half wit who was last in there too doing the head gasket and had, as per the head gasket tutorial on here, been careful not to overdo the sealant there It was not silicone but not the factory spec sealant either so who knows.
