my D2 only been on a tilt tray once.
ive got a terrible memory, it was either transfer case or center diff.
I may have asked this a few times before but put it down to crap memory and poor organisation because i don't recall and I never documented it if I did
What are the things that have mucked up your holidays/trip or seen your D2/D2A come home on a Tilt Tray
I intend to hang onto my 2004 D2A HSE for quite a few years yet and am happy to put $ into it to make it a reliable and capable vehicle
It is likely to do the Great Central Desert roads in a year or two
So the things that have already been done AFAIK are
- Fuel block( prev owner )
- Auto ( arranged by me )
- Fuel line over tank ( arranged by me )
Other than that , it's been niggly little stuff over the last year or but nothing major and it has never actually let me down or failed to proceed
Thinking back to my old D2A , I recall
Transmission cooler line blowing off just near Ouyen on a 45 degree day , towing a heavy camper trailer
Turbo boost modulator?
A list of Other little preventable stuff would be nice as well
Rear door jamming up?
Passenger window blowing fuses ( I got mine fixed . It was wiring that had worn through up behind the dash)
Stuff like that would be handy to know as its done 280,000 km

Auto transmission line blew.
Leaking RAD hose - due to incorect fitmet by a LR mechanic
Shredded serpentine belt - was in correctly fitted after some work done by a LR mechanic.
I would be checking your UNI joints.
Worn through fuel manifold, caused by mechanic leaving unused air suspension ? harness resting on the main fuel line presumably during the recall , as the manifold date was after the car date. GRRRR.
Biggest problem was at El Questro, had to be tilt trayed to Kununurra, but transport of that and camper trailer covered by NRMA premium.
Further agro caused by RACWA agent destroying the tow coupling and Jockey wheel of my camper trailer.
NRMA were terrific.

Tilt Tray twice in 12 years, Fuel Pump and Head crack/gasket with burst hoses.
Nick
Mine has been on a truck three times, but all for the same poorly repaired Auto.
I would ask, has the head gasket been done?
The exhaust manifold.
The exhaust manifold.
I would like to find a way to either secure the push on fittings on the trans cooler lines or replace them with something more secure.
The fuel cooler.
A spare fuel pump.
Did I mention the exhaust manifold?
Uni joints, as already mentioned.
The exhaust manifold.

Three occasions:
Striped centrifugal oil filter retaining fasteners. 4l of oil all over the engine bay.
Starter motor solenoid.
Harmonic balancer pulley dislodged from the crankshaft.
I would add a dead alternator at 5AM on the way to work. But I didn't get it towed, I charged the battery and took a spare to get it home. Amazing how quickly it went flat.
