    Dem 3 amigos, again

Hi Brains Trust, am new to AULRO. Have had my 2003 D2 TD5 auto since 2006. The 3 amigos have appeared. Local mechanic did a speed sensor test to reveal RR s/s not functioning.Have had a look at some posts re 3 amigos and feel I can do the job myself - if I can change a fuel pressure regulator, and airbag suspension then I reckon I could make a go of the speed sensor. Any particularities that I should watch for? Have noticed that next to brake reservoir under bonnet, there is a connection that is the same as ABS cables going to ABS block. That connection (mustard colour) is bare - not connected to anything. Has been that way for years. It seems the FR speed sensor is connected to the ABS block directly. Is this normal for a 2003 model? Who, in Sydney, flogs speed sensors for acceptable burglar $$? Are the sensors interchangeable?

I would say that the front has a long wire fitted and has been wired into the abs ecu you will find the connector for your rear is clipped to the chassis they are easy to swap out you just need to remove the rear brakes and they are attached with an allen key you may have to loosen the bolts attaching the hub to the diff housing to pull the wire through the gap iirc

The short lead with plugs were troublesome, the replacement leads are longer and are hard wired in. This is to eliminate the plug.

To the considerate gentlemen who have taken the time to reply to this newby -Thankyou very much.
I have spent several minutes trawling through this website for tips/tricks and just what to do.
Seems that the first replier is correct in that the connector is wired directly to just under the ABS block. Through this website and its many contributors I now have a better and deeper understanding of the intricacies of this great car.
Thankyou to all. May I now "close the thread"?
