Continuing on the thread from "What Happened today"
My Disco has a weird Battery drain issue,
from fully charged battery (and from the date codes it was only replaced just before I bought it a month ago) if the car is left parked up for 24 hours it completely drains the battery.
Some other funny stuff, sometimes the Sunroofs open themselves - not sure if this is due to dropping battery charge or the cause of such in the first place
Fully charged battery up - read 12.4 volts
left it sitting on my bench for a week and tested again at 12.4 volts
put it in the Disco and drove less than 1 minute to mechanics
Battery was tested by Mechanic when fully charged and returned 100% at correct CCA for the battery,
left in his workshop overnight and dead next morning (with front sunroof open)
Charged again and drove home
Dead the next evening (24 hours later)
Checked the Alternator output and it reads as 14.6 volts charge
So I am kind of at a loss as to what to try next!
any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

keep in mind, that the bcu keeps awake several minutes after you close the door. so wait for that to sleep before you start pulling fuses.
battery drain below 50milliamps is good.
above 200millamps (0.2amps) is bad.

So to put the car to sleep - do I just have to set up the Multimeter, leave bonnet up close doors etc and wait .....................
then start pulling fuses, engine bay fuse block, and the interior one under dash?
Will charge battery overnight and get onto this in the morning - Thanks

from memory, yep.
only do 1 at a time and start with the engine bay.

Could I clarify whether I understand you correctly here.
Do you mean to disconnect the main battery lead from the positive terminal, and then connect one multimeter lead to the positive terminal, and the other to the disconnected lead?

AT RESTMatt, how long did you take the reading for, the reason I ask, I have had alternators showing that voltage, but then spiking to 15-16 volts then going down to nothing. this was after taking a reading for several minutes, the initial reading was showing it was ok.

Good point Mario, it was just for a minute or so and did it a couple of times,
I had hoped to get to doing a Parasitic voltage drain test this weekend, but with focus on other stuff did not get the time, will try and do it one night through the week (along with water pump)

That sun roof opening itself seems a bit strange. But something I've experienced with my D2a is the brake lights turn themselves on via the electric brake controller. Just thought i'd mention it because i would never have diagnosed it without seeing it happen one night.
