Not much value in getting a D1 donor car for a D2. Diff centres are about the only interchangeable parts (providing it's not a 3.5 auto).

I was thinking of buying a donor vehicle for my TD5 and found an old 2 door V8 Auto D1 with a winch and bull bar and spotties (all of which I want) at a good price. I was just wondering what other parts might be salvageable from the D1 that could be used on the TD5?

Was thinking about things like rotors, bearings, steering components, suspension etc... headlights, wheels, tailshaft
Pretty much none of those is the same, the D2 is very different in loads of details. Even though the LT230 transfer case should bolt up it will have the wrong front output flange and be missing critical switches. Leave the D1 where it is and look for a blown up V8 D2, that will have more swappable components.
Headlights and panels, apart from the front doors, which have different handles, are all different.

Technically, the bullbar might not be a legal fitment. I doubt the early D1 bar is airbag compliant for a D2.

The only common body panel is the rear, cargo space door.

Coolio - makes my mind up for me! If I want a bull bar and winch, get it from somewhere else! You're all legends.
I've just found out, much to my disappointment, weathershields and seat-covers aren't interchangable either.
Does anyone know how to trim perspex without cracking it?
