Yeah, the bashing and welding is the easy part. Getting it off to effect the repair is going to be a pain.

Mine was pretty easy to remove when I modified it to take a larger tyre, pop off the door trim and six nuts to undo. Also, if you have upsized tyres or would rather a shiny new mount you can get one of these:

I experienced the same frustration but have solved the problem. I did away with locking nuts replacing them with standard ones which are fairly readily available. I figured that Land Rovers aren't so popular that you are really at much risk of having a wheel stolen. Especially since all Land Rover owners are such terrific people!

Just be thankful LR didn't go for LH thread wheel nuts for the passenger side then the vehicle would have five different types of wheel nut (or 6 if you count the one behind the wheel)
