This was about $88.00? I had the same problems last year with a cheapy.
Finally got to fit the Snorkel yesterday. Bought from an online Australian 4x4 dealer, it's the generic one that comes up on e-bay. Came with 2 templates and a fitting guide which was also generic. Ended up on youtube to find out how it went together. Templates where fine and marked and drilled the holes, fitted the snorkel up to the car, lined up ok on the outside, but sat out from the guard by 13mm. Out with the saw and cut a bit off. Looked from the inside and it doesn't line up very well with the intake hole, 25mm out. Had to grind and shape the the inner guard piece to fit. Lots of silicon to seal everything up. It fits and lines up perfectly on the outside but seems to be 25mm out on the inside. Anyone else fitted one and had the same problems?

A customer of mine who is a land rover mechanic has told buyers of the cheap snorkels not to bring them to him for installation. He said never again, they were a nightmare to fit correctly![]()
If you have got a cheapy, have a good look at the top were the air enters the snorkel. There are 4 channels to let water that enters the top to drain out. You may need to lengthen these so they work properly.snorkle.jpg
Here you can, hopefully see what I mean. The vertical gash needs to be above where the head increases diameter. Rain that gets in will flow down and out these slits. If the slits are not there the water will flow into the pipe and ......
