    D2 V8 won't start

All dash lights are present, the battery is charged up but the engine doesn't crank. I was hoping to power the starter motor directly but it already has a permanent live so I'm at a loss of how to do that.

Can anyone educate a confused chippy?

A starter motor has two important wires. The big one is always live to the battery and the smaller one operates the solenoid on the side. Try applying battery power to the terminal with the smaller wire.
