If it's de-EGR'd
![]()
Finally after many years I am going to drill and tap my inlet manifold for a boost takeoff point and reverse the original “quicky” installation where i had a tee inserted into the hose between the turbo boost pipe and the wastegate. Does anyone have pics of where they’ve positioned their boost takeoff point, and would they do it differently given the chance?
I agree it’s not a complex undertaking but I thought I’d advantage myself by canvasing other’s experiences .....

Yes it is de-EGR’d but the pipe wall is too thin to tap a thread hence the reason why I’ll be drilling the manifold.

Peronally, I would be putting the boost point in the De-Egr'd Inlet thingy before I even considered drilling and tapping the inlet manifold.
I got mine modified whilst I was doing the EGR Removal many years ago, just had a small block of ally welded to the neck, and tapped that.
Another option, which I have used with great success, is a motorbike valve stem. Driill hole, insert, nip up the nuts and afix your hose!

Ah! - i like it(the valve stem idea)

Thanks for all the suggestions, i am however committed to drilling the manifold having only recently purchased the hardware and tools specific to the job. I thought it would have been a common mod - it seems not!![]()

If you've got everything required , remove the de-egr intake pipe , stuff a lint free rag down the inlet, drill close to the edge of the intake face , bearing in mind you or someone else may want to refit the acoustic cover, use a vacuum to catch the filings if you can, onebobs your uncle![]()
thats the way I did mine. I also got some sticky gaffa tape and sort of rolled it on itself so the sticky side was up and stuffed that in ontop. that managed to catch a lot of the filings. I also dipped my tap in grease so the swarth held onto the tap. then I periodically cleaned it. and reapplied the grease.
Nothing has blown up yet![]()
Thanks blokes
’ave you got photo’s ?
