    Slow crank and starting problems

The D2 TD5 has now had trouble starting a few times! 287000km and not 100% if original starter?

First notice when it wouldn't just fire up as usual, a little slow.
Then was like it had a flat battery but started.
And today wouldn't start at all!!! Had to get the jump pack out!!! Still no go measured battery volts and a little low at 11.7 so threw the charger on and was literally on for 5 minutes and bang away it went.

I've done some searching and am think it's the contacts in the starter?

    Am I correct??

    Cheers Lemo

Battery or alternator, might want to measure voltage of your alternator while running , you're jump pack could be dud or not powerful enough

Yeah checked those, battery was at 11.7 after just two cranks??
Alternator is at 14.2 when running.

Have battery on charge over night so see how it goes?

Battery is only about 6 months old as well. Supercharge gold and correct size etc.

6 months old or not it looks like your battery is the problem.
You should be able to get a replacement battery from Supercheap, Do you still have the recipt?

Charged the battery last night battery indicator back to green and up to 13 volts and starts as normal!

Also tested the current draw with keys in but off car unlocked (always like this in the shed) and it's 680mA at the main lead from the battery.

I'll do a few searches today and see what I can find, but is this about normal?

Bought it direct from supercharge in Newcastle, yes have receipt but not 100% it's not just the draw from something flattening the battery??
Never happened before though so will do a bit more digging to see what's going on????

Get your battery tested first before you do any more shovel work

Yeah jump pack was flat as well! Kids had been using it to pump up pool toys and air beds and I'd forgot to plug it back in!

Might be time to look at installing that second battery in the back!

    Slow crank and starting problems

So battery held 12.8 volts all day, will get the battery load tested at work later this week and see what the reveals.
Did a test with the low beams on and it dropped from 12.8 to 12.3 in about 2mins, turn off and volts went back up to 12.6
mmm..... load test and see?? What happens over the next few days.
Supercharge in Newcastle has moved to BeresfieldSlow crank and starting problems not so local now!!
