How can the business be "growing" if the main concern is previous customers....

communication, clear honest communication, is king in all relationships.

Surely there is tech to help. Maybe auto reply that lets you know what number in the email cue you are. I understand FB is very popular but it also sucks balls. Not every one is one it. But if you have FB you have email. Email to me would be first point of contact for a international business.

Strange business model? take on a customer, charge an initial fee, then continue to work on the initial customer for free which generates no further revenue ( to ensure customer satisfaction). So no income stream comes in from new potential customers . Business is growing ? but no revenue is coming in. So its either a hobby business and not a full time business as economically it would not be viable. just my thoughts

I think I understand where Jose is going or maybe wanting to go. If you want a V8 tuned up you can buy a tune from lots of places, however serious people book a date with Mark Adams and get a few days of actual Mk1 human on a dyno with the vehicle.
Mark may go back to the same person a few times (all at a charge).

From the sounds of it Jose is going down this route, for Europe stuff and would appear to be in great demand, which is great.

I've said it before Jose could have a tight service sending his custom tune based on a selected list of mods back to you in minutes increasing turnover heaps. Then the customer can come back and ask for tweaks related to their actual experience on that tune.
If Jose has done say 500 tunes then he probably has the majority of the combinations that you'd find, he just needs to construct a matrix of the mods and if your selection matches then you get a map, otherwise he gets an email for an actual new map needed.
I notice he's supplying TUNs now, even these could be generated automatically and sent back.

Here's about $300 of free work for him:
website->upload existing map (confirms auto/region etc.)->select checkboxes next to known mods (e.g. large exhaust, uprated torque converter, VGT etc) and/or other mod box->if matches existing map then 'encrypt' with vin and email back.

If he wants to increase business in a scalable fashion it's probably the only way. Again, from remote customers how many actual requests for mods does he get back? And of those how many are again possible to automate as a first stage? Checkbox - too smokey, too high egt etc. And could probably again have a map sent back in minutes (even if the info is, try this, let us know and we can actually create a tune based on how this changed it).

I know Jose will say he doesn't want to do this (he did last time) as it will make the business impersonal, but at the moment I can't help but feel he just has a lot of current and potential customers feeling they are being personally ignored and that it's all too hard to deal with his business.

One can not recommend potential customers if one can not get a response to emails to get a remap done can they .
So all the previous happy customers are flogging a dead none contactable Horse
