Shouldn't there be some sort of warrantee? Even if only as a measure of Good Will.

Hi,
I had an reputable shop change my front diff housing and the pinion seal is leaking, so just asking could that be because the of seal brand that was used or something else.
My Diff breathers are fine and working
Thanks

+1 for the warrantee
But if out of the warrantee period it's a pretty straight forward job to change the flange and seal if they are worn.
Had the same leak!
Changed the seal, about 5000km later starts to leak again!!! Removed and check the pinion flange, it had a slight wear mark where the seal is located, gave it a buff up and still leaking after installing a new seal!!!!
So brought a new pinion flange and seal, no more leaks
Cheers Lemo
It the seal sits on the wear mark on the axle it could cause a leak.
If the seal is not correctly installed with the correct tool then possibly cause a leak.
Corteco or Genuine seals tend to leak less than the other seals,( not going there due to name and shame rules )
re warranty, if you install a new part over and old part like an axle with a wear mark, then how can you blame the new seal?
They can leak through the spline around the nut but that is easy to spot.
I have a couple of times shortened the spring behind the sealing lip by a smidge if i couldn't wait for a new seal, this just pulls the lip tighter the flange and was on fleet vehicles in the bush you would not do it for a paying customer.
I have a problematic axle seal at the moment and will shorten the spring if it hasn't sealed with this last seal change i've just done.
Well it's about 3 weeks old, and the diff housing that I swapped over had the pinion and seal still in side the diff and was not leaking, until they swapped it over and installed the new seal and pinion flange on and started Leaking straight away
New seal and new pinion flange? I'd say they have stuffed up the seal install.
