    Constant Mislock Issue

    Hi Team,

A little stranded here in the blue mountains - want to go check out the sights, but can not lock up Gary, so here we go:

    ISSUE:
Mislock with horn beep when trying to lock with key fob.
BCU will not allow manual locking of vehicle at door.

THINGS I HAVE TRIED/DONE SO FAR:
Removed and disassembled very corroded bonnet sensor switch. Wasn't the issue.
Used Nanocom to eliminate all door sensors (all read closed/open individually) and Bonnet Sensor.
Checked battery voltage (12.4 V / 3 month old battery).
Cleaned ECU red plug (miniscule amount of oil, clean now).
Disconnected battery to allow BCU to reset.
Disabled and then re-enabled alarm using Nanocom.

...and just as I was typing I tried starting Gary and using the dashboard lock switch - worked for all doors except Drivers.

Time to pull off the door trim.
I was going to pull out the under dash fuse board and look for corrosion next.

Anyone have a quick fix for this that will let me lock the vehicle and go sight seeing?

Anyone else had this failure mode? Time to look for good oil.

    Update:

The copious amounts of sikaflex holding the vinyl weathershield down tell me a previous owner has been here before.

Can't you park somewhere you don't have to lock up the car?

    Update

Yep. Heading to my uncles house in Canberra on Thursday to visit and do 250,000 km service. Can securely park there while pulling the door apart properly.

Update: I must have jiggled the right thing while fiddling with the locking mechanism and it is working again. Looks like a window and frame out job to get proper access to the unit.

Can anyone recommend somewhere in Canberra to get a locking assembly used/new?

I have read of a similar failure mode to mine where the threaded linkage between handle/key barrel and lock assembly has worn out/fallen off/ come loose. Anyone else experienced / fixed the same?

Not sure that's the case. Check out The Good Oil, as I think I saw a thread there.

    I second V8Ian. Try Mario.

Definitely glass and frame out - Workshop Manual 76-1-11. The locking mechanism is tucked in behind the Frame Support.

Is Mario still in hospital or back home? I ordered a service kit from Heather a couple of weeks ago and she said he was in a bad way... don't really wan't to hassle them if thats still going on.

I have previously taken both rear door frames out to repair some rust between the windows and quarter lights, so I know the process.
