    High/low detect switch
A high/low detect switch is fitted in the front output housing and connects to earth when low is selected. The switch is
connected to the engine ECM, the SLABS ECU and the EAT ECU. The purpose of the switch is to enable selection
of the hill descent feature and to modify the engine fuelling and automatic gearbox gearshift maps stored within the
    respective ECM's and ECU's.

No probs, it happens, for me it was exactly the other way around as the switch got stuck closed and i've spent ages to figure out why i had a very ''agressive'' throttle, black smoke and high EGT as the ECU was on the low range fuel map while the gear in high...since then i fitted a LED in front of the lever on that sticker so the LED comes on when there's earth on that wire cos it can happen that the switch to not close when low is selected then the engine will be powerless in low gear... too bad that LR didnt do a warning on dash for this switch

My car has always seemed sluggish to me never driven another one so cant compare, and hills are a nightmare and i always reckon low gear felt more responsive too me i am wondering if mine is stuck in low too, will have to have a look at the switch i guess

Just had five to check mine and you are
Indeed correct, don't know what I was thinking...
And yeah it would be beneficial to have a light,I guess if you are in low but the Hdc won't work, it's a tell tale sign...

Do you know which maps exactly are called on when selecting low range?
Obviously the throttle reacts differently, there are no doubt others as well

A simple test if you think the switch is stuck...

While in high range gear, press hill decent button, if the light flashes and beeps continuously then the switch is working.
In low range gear the light will be solid.

From my limited research it says it adjusts the fuel, the shifting in the auto and throttle response
