    zf 4hp24 and td5

    Hi to the forum
I am fairly new to the world of discovery's, hense the question can a zf 4hp24 from a series 2 v8 be adapted to go behind a td5 auto?
My understanding is that there is a length difference in the gearbox, is there also a length difference in the bell housing?

Can parts from different models be swapped to make it fit, or is it totals different.

What I am trying to achieve is a beefed up auto behind the td5.

    Thanks in advance

Yes a hybrid can be built...

If you go full 24 you’ll need new custom length drive shafts front and rear as well.

    Hi Tombie
Thanks for the reply I guessing that making custom drive shafts means moving the position of the transfer box?
What about the bell housing and converter.

    Thanks

It’s not that simple! Some can others require the housing which lengthens the unit.

As the box is mounted to the rear of the now longer transmission - yes it moves rearward..

What are you planning on doing with it that would require a "beefed up" transmission?
I have always understood that regular services, and not abusing the box, should see a good 250K at least, from a 22 series ZF box - even when towing big loads regularly.
