    Fuel Cooler - Leaking

    Hi there,


    About 1000km ago I replaced the seals for my fuel cooler as it was leaking quite badly when cold. I used genuine vitron (something like that - a brown/pink) seals for the job. I replaced the original clips with clips supplied in the kit I purchased.

    However, it still is leaking a few drops here and there, more that I would really like.


    Any suggestions?

    Now many seals did you use?
    You can use two, makes the ends sit in the tube a little straighter and worked a treat on mine!

    I only used one per end as that is what the kit came with and that is what came out of the unit.

    And absolutely! Cleaned both surfaces with metho and then wiped clean with water. Greased using some KY jelly as mentioned in an advice forum.

    Hence why I am at a loss.

    You can get new seals from your local bearing/seal shop. BS225 if memory serves me correctly. Think they are about $5 each. Maybe pull the new ones and grab some back ups in case they were damaged during install.

    i'd recommend changing the o-ring if you haven't already.

    one thing i've done that has worked great is to find a t-hose clamp the same diameter as the fuel cooler and tighten that over the o-ring/fuel cooler.
    that fix has worked for the last 2 years and is still going strong today!

    Thanks to everyone for the help.

    A follow up.

    Added another two O rings to the cooler and all is good. No leaks and going strong.
