I have used snatch straps But I hate using the bloody things same as my high lift jack because they are inherently dangerous.
There is usually another way of doing a recovery that doesn't include using a snatch strap and I will only use one as a Last resort.
Too many people go for the strap as a first option when simply digging out the truck and lowering the tyre pressures will do the job in most cases or use maxtracks/treads or even a winch, All of these options are far safer than using a snatch strap

Anyway back to the steel rear bar.
I can't see any reason to even use the non rated recovery points when there is a perfectly good tow hitch below it, I was just curious about those 2 points on my new bar.
As for the bar itself it looks great and it most certainly won't end up cracking and deteriorating and look like crap like the original factory bar did

Still not sure, depends on the day. Some days I strongly believe they come from hell, then others, like when you can prove how much better they are than the Prado, they come from somewhere nicer than hell!

I think it's due to inexperience, and the typical gung-ho attitude that some folks have.

Almost happened to me this past week.
Bro and I(and my dad) out in the VHC, up a very steep(Herne Trk) bro ahead, got stuck.
First thing he wanted was a tow up using winch.
I instructed him to be sure diff locks were active(rear), and of course it wasn't .. locked, and it went up.
Up top, I aksed him what tyre pressures he usually runs, and did he drop them at all?
    Nup! .. 50psi.
Any wonder he struggled up some of the really steep stuff. I had no issues(other than more Yokohama tyre damage!! ) .. and running at about 30 to low 30's.

He did get stuck once more up a steep and looser surface, but by this time running mid to high 20's, but I think he just chose the wrong line. I made it up no worries.

But that's the trick .. be smart and try to survive a possible fatal situation!
Exhaust all the easy options first ... can't understand why folks always try to waste so much energy doing things the hard way.
