.. you obviously haven't done a waterpump yet!
That and the fuel pressure reg! ... arghhh!!!
And I'm the same. Spend on quality bits, save on fixing said bits.
I keep telling bro the same .. don't save money on the wrong bits.
In the end tho, it was good to confirm what others have said .. but at someone elses expense!
The other thing we did to his D2 was the fix the broken front exhaust mount, about a foot from the flexi pipe.
The small dick that's supposed to be welded to the pipe had snapped, and it must have taken the rubber mount with it.
All exhaust places were too busy(to do a 5 min job!).
I had some flat bar, paid $2 for a ubolt clamp.
Pulled a rubber mount from my spares D2(his was missing), cut and drilled flat bar, bolted to rubber mount and to the ubolt.
Exhaust mount bracket now won't ever break again.

Spent a dollar or two at the Dollar Tree. (California, just bragging) Some times you have to bite the bullet and pony up the cash. For example, Genuine TD5 engine mounts, Genuine TD5 Header tanks. TD5 OEM GM radiators. I find as a rule of thumb, that Roverlord will sell the good stuff and avoid the dodgy gear. And if he avoids an item, it is because people will not pony up the cash for the genuine. So buy the genuine.
