Who Actually has a HP24 Stage 2 tranny from Ashcroft

    Hi All.

My tranny has died no drive either direction.

I would love to talk to someone that has the upgraded HP24 Tranny and find out how they went in the process and how they modified the transmission mounts and did you need to mod the drive shafts on a 2 inch lift?

    Cheers

    Matt

Could it be your flexiplate? I remember when I took my V8 out for a rebuild the flexiplate had cracked all the way around the inner bolt holes. I can't believe it still drove.

So can you tell from the starter motor whole if it’s the flex plate? I’d be surprised if was as it’s only 12 months and 40,000 km old. Replaced with a genuine one

You might see the cracks but depends where they are. Gen flex plate is too weak a design esp if you r towing so might have failed already. Aftermarket as used by indies is visibly much heavier in construction.

Dunno about the strength of the V8 flexplate, but the TD5 is more notorious for breaking.
    Don't matter new or not.
We recently did brothers(TD5) torque converter(was slipping) and while his flex plate was in good nic(no idea how old), while the job was being done, I convinced him that a heavier duty flex is needed .. or else he'll be to square one again under the car.

We had little time to get parts to get it all together, and looked around for local suppliers.
Whilst looking around, I noted one parts seller warns on their website against buying/using the standard Td5 flex plate, and doesn't warranty it.
Anyhow, a major warning before you buy one where you have to click twice to agree to the warning.

In the end, we found one ar Les Richmond Automotive(not far from where I live), close to $200(as opposed to about $50 for the weak LR version).
By comparison, the LRA one(may have been an Ashcroft, can't be sure) is close to 2x the thickness.
I think they said they get them made to their specs or something like that .. just not 100% on LRAs source.

Note the pic shown by FischerX is for a V8(round), where it has 4 bolts to the torque converter, at the edges of the circle.
The TD5 is a triangular shape, and thus has only 3 bolts to the torque converter.
