first thing check brake fluid level if your not familiar with the smell and then diff level
Driving home, hit bump and dash warning lights come on, hand brake, ABS, DHA, then raised suspension for good measure. Pull over and clear with Nanocom, but then in traffic become aware of squeak and a light kind of grinding noise. Photo shows the culprit, before I take the wheel off, thought someone might be able to tell me exactly what the leaking fluid is and where it would be coming from ? With the dust it has obviously been leaking prior to today. Any pointers gratefully received. Matt.

Yeah, brake fluid or leaking axle seal.
If it washes of easily with water it is a good sign that it is brake fluid (or dog pee) If not then its oil.

Thanks Pedro, see what you mean, I checked the bake reservoir and diff levels and they seemed fine. The tell-tale is that there is a grinding noise when I go round corners, so that must be bearings ?
Does this then mean a new hub ? Haven't had to do anything mechanical to this part of car before so learning as I go.
New hub, as the wheel bearing and ABS sensor ring are enclosed and to the best of my knowledge are not repairable.
if its a hub issue,, make EXTRA sure the hub you buy has the correct number of teeth,, no really..![]()

Buy a genuine hub if u intend to keep the car. The aftermarket ones r hit n miss...I know now. ..but I am a slow learner😐
Grinding noise hey.... that changes things. Could be the CV joint too.
Jack corner of car up. You will hear a bad bearing if you spin the wheel. Grab it top and bottom and rock it, looking for play.
I've not seen a bearing squirt grease out like fluid as it appears in your pic though.
If it's diff oil you won't notice the change of level at the filler. Instead, check around where the CV/axle meets the axle tube. You should be able to identify an axle seal leak or torn CV boot there.
Whatever it is, change that axle seal while you're there and take the time to thoroughly clean up the seal seating area.
But before you get into it, make sure you have a 6 point socket to fit the axle nut (factory is 32mm I think but some aftermarkets are 36mm from memory) and a decent breaker bar to undo it.
