    Td5 engine mounts won't budge!

    99 Td5 D2 auto.
Got everything undone. Put jack under the sump (tried LHS, RHS and in the middle), the whole car rises, instead of the engine!

    Any clues?

assuming you've removed 4 bolts and 6 nuts , as well as the upper fan shroud and rh intercooler hose, and you have something reasonably soft between jack and strong part of sump , then you'll just need to keep jacking ( I also remove gearbox mount nuts until they are flush with the bottom of the thread, not forgetting to do them back up when finished :-)

soak with oil/wd40 jack the sump genltly till the chassis starts to lift and then with the bolt in the center only in a couple of turns hit it with a big hammer on a drift.

I'm yet to see a td5 mount with a bolt in the centre that turns
Done loads of them with the moulded in stud in the centre , never had one get stuck though

Mine has, I was about to post a question about this on my way home, but no need now ... I jacked the sump up with both sides loose and the mounts appeared to flex up a few inches more than the new ones, so I will try tapping with a drift ... not sure why I didn't think of hitting it with a bigger "mechanic" till prompted.
