    Brake pad wear?

I have recently done a brake pad change & rear rotor change.
I noticed when I did the pad change there are no "Squealers" to tell you when your pads are worn down.
I also did not think a D2a had break pad sensors like a D3.

So, apart from visual inspection how are you supposed to know when your pads are worn down?

The first I noticed with the rear pads was a grinding noise, hence the new rotors. Expensive way to find out.

If you have the factory alloys you can actually see the pad thickness through the wheel with them things called eye balls

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

Before you hit the backing! If you hit the backing and go to metal then you're up for new rotors also.

generally , if the friction material is thinner than the metal part of the pad , they need to be changed

I'm not saying ALL D2's are like mine---
but if they are,, just ask your Mechanic to check every time its on the hoist..
and yes, you can see thru the rims to start with.

Do you/have you topped up the brake fluid reservoir?

    This will be your telltale.
Don't top it up as it falls, unless you definitely know you have a fluid leak.

When the brake warning light comes on the dash .. you know your pads are low.
