My Deefer was a more compliant ride on rougher roads as it had well over 100mm between the front bump stops.
It used custom valved Konis too.
HD Bilsteins, for example have significant amounts of low speed bump valving to control the unsprung mass better for better high speed handling and to control body roll, but it significantly affects the ride, making it quite jiggly.

Anti-roll bars also stiffen the ride on one wheel bump significantly.
Something I will hopefully address in time with the D2
