Need OBD2 software to diagnose LR Disco 2002 TD5 on my laptop. Can you help?? It would be really good if we could get this software as we are trying to Re Flash the ECU. If successful, I will post here how we did it.Thank you - Gerry

You use nanocom to upload the map
I'm not aware of any PC/Mac software that can be used on a TD5 Disco, particularly for flashing the ECU. Though the Disco 2 has an OBD2 interface the TD5 engine uses non standard codes.
As others have mentioned you'll need a Nanocom diagnostic device to do this. (Edit you can transfer the file from the PC to nanocom using an SD card)
Another thing to take into account is what type of ECU you have in the Car. Early models were non flashable and the ECU part number will start with MSB. Later models are and the part number will start with NNN. Change over was during 2002 from memory.
Cheers
Steve

As said, the TD5 has very limited OBD2 compatibility.
Here's a really good thread OBD2
If the car is the one in your details ie 1 2004 TD5, a Nanocom Evo can download your stock map to a flash drive and upload a new map from a flash drive downloaded from your PC.
You have to be careful that voltage does not drop during the rewrite which takes several minutes or the ECU can be "bricked".
I bought a 20 amp 12v power supply for the purpose, as it was a lot cheaper than a new ECU.

Hi Gerry
as others have mentioned , the TD5 uses different protocols to OBD 2, I don't think a reflash would sort out the problem
After swapping out the capacitors from the msb in to yours didn't work , then the problem could be upstream ,( well, it did get a dunking) maybe one of the drivers, hopefully offtrack will be along to shed some more light as I don't have enough knowledge on the electronic side.
If you're reading this Paul, the car took a drink the fault codes were 1-5 injector peak charge short which led me to believe it could be the capacitors in the ecu , Gerry swapped them into his NNN from my MSB and no joy.
I have left him my get out of jail msb unit so he can at least drive the car.
