The D2 does have a OBD2 port, however OBDII support wasn't required on Diesel cars until 2003/4 in the US and Europe. The Discovery 3 was introduced to meet these requirements, amongst others.
So you can read and clear engine codes on the D2 TD5 with a generic reader, but that is pretty much the limit of what can be done. It's not possible to access any useful real time data or view and change settings.
Anything beyond read/clear requires something like a Hawkeye or Nanocom.
