I believe it will be a high compression pre- Thor motor with 110,000km on the clock. Probably the same as ozscott’s. That’s about all I know at this time.
I hope this one will last for ever, or at least longer than the 178,000km I got out of the 4.0.

A 4.0 and 4.6 Thor have the same inlet/induction system size. If it is a Gems from a RR then not sure.

As the new engine is a Gems 4.6, just pull all the Thor stuff off the 4.0 and put it on the new engine - the Motronics ECU will adjust.

I have always looked after my cooling system, didn’t stop the block from cracking.
Anyway, quite enjoying the process. Cylinder sleeve failure or something else? Here’s where I’m up to:

The 4.6 RR thors run bigger airbox outlet tubing and maf,,
(but the 4.6 will run quite happily on the standard 4.0 size.)
I changed all this to get the last 1% out of the conversion, the map inside the Tornado is different with these.
    Noticeable? probably on the dyno..

gotta love the adjustable lifting gear

Oh OK didn't know that - but the actual manifold and throttle body is the same though - I do not have a MAF (just a tube and air sensor) on my engine and the air cleaner housing is a lot larger than normal.

I didn’t know that either, but if it runs fine with the 4.0 setup, that will do for now.
4.6 V8 arriving on Wednesday. Cylinder sleeve failure or something else?
