    Rough Idle & Fault Code

My TD5 15p is continually showing a fuel temp circuit fault code. It was only occasionally but now it’s quite often. It idles rough (approx 750-790 rpm) but once I clear the code it’s fine for a bit.

I have previously unplugged the plug at the drivers side rear of the engine and cleaned it with electrical contact cleaner. It was fine for a couple of months. I’m going to try recleaning it again, but what other things can cause this?

Check the FT(fuel temp) live reading when the symptom occurs, it has to be between 10 - 20*C lower than the ECT(coolant temp), if it's much different or a fix value better put a new sensor cos it's not expensive and it must be ruled out before chasing wiring issues, provided the ECT reading is OK cos for FT sensor failure the default is the ECT reading.

Oh right, so once at operating temp (coolant about 88-89) fuel should be 68-79*C?

By memory I think mine is about 50*C but I’ll check on the way to work tomorrow.

Those snapshots are quite irrelevant... record an ''inputs fuelling" log on SD card from a longer drive and post it here if you want some clear answers

How do you record or save the input fueling log to sd card? I’ve formatted it in fat32 format & put it in the nanocom. Started the car & nanocom, went to input fueling section and went for a drive. How do I actually get the report on the sd card?

    Hi john

You need to format the card using the BBS web site, not 100% sure but think you need to login to the BBS site and down load the formatting software
