G'day again,
I've had a search of the site for Melbourne mechanic recommendations but nothing too recent so requesting the latest news...
I've recently had the clutch slave done and the mechanic I went to hasn't left me too impressed. I had to bring the car back in a day after picking it up when the clutch went again on the highway - hadn't been bled properly. Now it's okay, but on a nearly brand new clutch he's left me with about a 1/3 of the pedal motion I had previously, nearly down to the floor. More of a concern is that my gearbox (manual), which I know is starting to go, is now a lot worse, getting towards undriveable, very sticky and notchy even once it warms. It's dramatically different than before the hydraulic work.
I've had hydraulics go before and had the same gearbox feeling that was restored once the master cylinder was fixed, so I've got all my fingers crossed that this is a similar symptom rather than a coincidental bottoming out of the gearbox.
So I'm ditching the current guy even though I spend $600 and after a recommendation from someone who has had manual gearbox or hydraulic work done and was happy with the results.
Close to the city a plus so I can still get to work without the disco.
I've been told there's a decent peninsula option? Can make that work as well.
Many thanks as always, Will

I know its in the hills but in the past with my Great Wall I used 360 gearboxes and diffs in Bayswater. Built my crawler transfer case and a few other bits. Another person is the Diff Doctor down Hallam way. He looks like a roughnut but really knows his stuff on Diffs.

Thanks guys, going to take it down to Peninsular Rangie.
Blknight, if it's a gearbox, might get back to you for a second opinion![]()
Hi Will
What was your experience at Peninsula Rangie?
And has anyone dealt with Danny from The Landy Place in Mordialloc? D2/D3 wrecker and mechanic. I've picked up a few spare parts from him in the past at competitive rates, but don't know anyone who's been through his workshop. It's a bit of a drive and even more of a hike to get home to Brunswick after dropping the car in for a service (even more so in the Peninsula)... A good reference in northern suburbs would be welcome!
I don't need any major works done, I just need someone with a good eye for D2s to give it a full check up as I've taken care of basic maintenance myself.
