    Handbrake Cable help please

    Hi all.
    been reading for a while and finally took the plunge and bought myself a d2.
    I bought it knowing it had a dodgy handbrake hoping it would be an easy fix (bear in min I know SFA about cars)
    Anyway I got it home, pulled the centre console out and the cable was badly frayed, and then luckily enough it snapped on me there and then.

    So I jumped online and bought this Handbrake Cable Land Rover Discovery 2 1999 Onwards XA> SPB000150

    It arrived today and the cable is only like a foot and a half long. I was under the impression they ran all the way to the rear tyres?
    I havent had a chance to get under the caryet as ive had work and dont have lighting to do it at night. Gunna suss it out over the weekend but wanted to get some thoughts from here if possible?

    Is the cable meant to be that short? if so what does it connect to? I assumed I would take out the old one and follow in reverse putting the new on in.

    Cable is meant to be that short.
    'Older' Landies use a drum brake on the tailshaft just after the transfer box. This locks the whole driveline, instead of a set of drums on the rear wheels.

    Hey man. took it to the old mans and he gave me a hand with it. GOt it done which is the main thing.
    Handbrake isnt holding 100% on a hill though, so I think I need to replace the shoes, maybe clean the drum form what ive read.

    There is also an adjustment on the drum which adjusts the bottom of the skies, it is a large bolt on the base of the backing plate, tighten it and then back it off slightly and try the handbrake again
