Orientation of outlets on D2 V8 thermostat

Good evening, brainstrust. A quick tutorial for a forgetful person is needed.

Can someone please indicate the connections of the PAIR of outlets on the top of the thermostat on a v8? The centre outlet and the angled outlet on the thermostat; the top radiator hose and the water pump for the hoses.

The reason is because I can't get the cooling system to keep the temp to anything like acceptable running temps. ATM, >100c indicated on Nanocom. The pix in RAVE are not particularly informative, and it has been a long time since I have had to do a thermostat change.

    TIA.

The angled port to waterpump/expansion tank.
The vertical/direct/straight port is the bypass hose leading back into the T junction on the top hose.

if you nest all the OEM hoses back where they belong it only goes in one way....

ok it will fit in one of 3 ways but 2 of those require an inordinate number of mechanics incentivating dialectual intonations.

One of which is probably what I had to deal with on my (not yet going) D2.

Nope, you're going to swear at the right configuration....

you'll just swear a lot more for a wrong one.

    Cool

Dave, you should have been a Colonel or perhaps a Brigadier. But I agree, there is an intellectual exercise at the heart of the decision making. RAVE is designed to confuse. Thanks, Arthur for the completely succinct reply. My initial installation is correct.

The radiator is clear and clean, the water pump is a brand new one, there doesn't seem to be any obstruction in the block.

I need to look at the fan hub, I reckon.

    Cheers for the instant help.

What I don't understand is how they could design the v on top of the thermostat housing so it is almost impossible to get the hose clamps on to the hoses, they are jambed together.

if you reverse engineer the assembly process, its easy to see how and why it was the way it is.....

which is why the word engineer is usually prefixed with a mechanical incentiviser and suffixed or adjectivised with words like, electrical, automotive, process and structural, depending on if its the convoluted ecus systems, the mechanics of it, the way it was put together or the chassis member thats in the way again when a mechanic is talking to your car nicely.

    and FWIW...

Mechanics are like the eye of the storm, swearing is normal parts and tools flying is normal... when it all goes very quiet very suddenly you can worry.

Things went quiet for a bit, then I changed the fan hub.

All is well - temps are acceptable and steady, radiator temp gradient is satisfactory and nothing is leaking.

I went quiet again....nothing leaking? I've got the clock on it!
