I think it does change gear shifts, but only as a function of the egr info/fueling, so if that's mapped out,no it shouldn't,

But I stand to be corrected...often

    td5 low power

Could it be that the turbo is defective?, because it is not developing pressure. Maybe there is some sort of obstruction or leak in the pipes to the turbo. Those with more experience, might the engine have been cooked up, rings lose tension so compression drops. Compression test might give a clue. Might be why the previous owner sold it, as OP said it has been like that since he bought it.

Don’t know offhand - I’m just recalling a “lively” discussion that you were a participant in way back in 2014.

OOO ...since then i've been on a continuous learning curve and there are many things which now are completely different in my mind than then..

... and that is true for me too.Is 0.58 bar turbo pressure at 3000rpm about right for a Td5?

If the MAF only controls EGR in a 10P Td5 motor and the EGR has been deleted, does that mean things like the MAF and mesh screen can be removed for slightly better airflow...or is the mesh there to deliberately "disrupt" the airflow?

I have had a problem with an error code coming from the MAF. (Technical forum TD5 fault code 03-07)(Too much voltage) I have not yet discovered the cause, so in I have totally disconnected the MAF and I find it runs better, so until I can find out what the cause is, that’s how it will run. I don’t know if this answers your question OR if it is good but it was getting dangerous to drive with this fault and the car stalling once you start to take off.

The mesh is there to straighten the airflow into the MAF so that the MAF has an accurate sampling of the air mass.
I read somewhere many years ago that if you do not have the mesh, you need about 10inches (25CM) of straight pipe in front of the MAF.

Have you fitted the new MAP/IAT sensor yet?

Yup, slight improvement but hasn't really solved the original problem that I've had for many years so will hopefully find some time to check exhaust and fuel systems in the next few days. Is checking fuel pressure a relatively straightforward job with a relatively cheap gauge available?
