    Spare parts car

I have a late 03 D2 TD5 auto I have had since new. It has been incredibly reliable but as its now getting long in the tooth I have bought a complete car to keep as a donor. Its a 2000 7 seter TD5 auto with only 240,000km and is in good nick apart from the paint. My question is what should I do to make sure that it is laid up properly. Thanks

I have had a bit of experience with "barn finds" and "been in long term dry covered storage" through a long connection with the collector car community. It needs to be in the said covered storage. Cover a concrete floor with plastic drop sheets. Concrete is porous and moisture will come out of concrete slabs and condense on the under surfaces of the car if left bare. All windows up and doors closed. Keep the mice etc. out or they eat the trim. A loose cotton car cover over the vehicle to stop dust collecting on the outside and attracting moisture. Otherwise dismantle it and shelve the parts wrapping or boxing as necessary.

Thanks. Is there anything I should do with the motor gear box and drive train - or should I just start the motor warm it up every now and again, replace the coolant every few years etc etc
