How often should the oil be changed?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

    Just saying......
When that pic was taken I'd had the car around 9 months. That load was right around the limit for towing. The car was serviced by a local guy who is a trans specialist and is highly regarded ( not uncommon to see guys with Porsches travel 100 k to get him to do their cars ). I had him do it as soon as I bought it 'cos I like to know where I stand re oils etc. Prior to my purchase the car was always serviced by Ritters, a Melbourne LR specialist.
    Just sayin.......

Fair 'nuff. Sometimes text gets taken out of context, 'specially when i'm involved. No harm done I hope.

Depends on what you're running and what sort of life you are giving it.

e.g. a full syn like Transmax Z or ATF FS will safely go much further than a garden variety mineral Dex IIIH fluid.
The full syns don't suffer from oxidation or lose those critical friction modifiers that ensures smooth clutch lock up as readily as an old school oil.
They resist varnish buildup better, etc.

ATF is one fluid where I think using an exxy full syn fluid pays dividends.

Land Rover used to recommend 40,000km with an average DexIIIH fluid.
    I wouldn't exceed that.

Also do not forget filter change as when they are getting partially blocked the faster you go the more the trans temp climbs even with convertor locked.
disco seriesII mods so far:-bullbar,hyd winch,
detriot locker, lsd front,C.D.L kit, chipped and bigger intercooler,2" lift, rock sliders, lsd in transfer case, modified auto trans.
