excuse the double post, new to this
Gday all, have been searching around a number of forums and websites trying to figure out some things to do with the immobiliser and alarm in my d2a but haven't come up with anything concrete just yet.
Little background, bought my truck and the only key it came with was fob-less, so just the key cut on any old key. Assume the bcu settings had been set so that this was all that was needed to manually unlock and start the car, cant 100% remember but im pretty sure when i would lock the car with the key it would set the alarm as im pretty sure i remember the red light flashing on the dash once locked. Fast forward a few months i bought a key from a d2 parts dealer on d2boysclub, got the key cut and programmed the fob to my truck, all good, no issues.
Fast forward some more months and having read this thread https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/recommendation-for-d2-owners.184078/ i thought this sounded like some sage advice, so back to the nanocom for another poke around to set the alarm to always being disabled with key in the event of the fob battery dying or the receiver dying etc etc. I think the alarm setting was already set to disarming the alarm only if the car vechile was locked with the key, which makes sense as not having a fob this would have been the only way it could ever have been disarmed. Now i had a new fob i wanted to do as the linked thread suggested and set to always disarming alarm with key in door regardless of how it was locked, so i set to always disarm, the passive imobiliser was already set to disabled so no need for a change there then i wrote settings to the ecu.
Now just had to try it out, locked car with fob, and manually unlocked with the key which did as suggested and didnt set off the alarm which it had previously when id unlocked manually a 'locked by fob car'. sweet, all sorted i thought, however i noticed the red light was still flashing and i couldnt start the car so im thinking the imobiliser isnt disarmed like the alarm is with the key, even though it had been disabled in the bcu (i thought..?). Id also locked the car with the key with the windows down a bit so the motion sensors wouldnt trigger the alarm, and then unlocked with the key and the immobiliser still flashing and could only start by pressing unlock on the fob. I found this weird considering i used to strictly manually lock and unlock the car and have no issues?
I saved the current bcu settings which ive posted below.
Excuse this rather large post, but was hoping some of you could point me in the right direction. Is the only way around this to disable the alarm entirely? or is there some way i can reconfigure my bcu settings so in the event of a fob failure i can unlock manually, disabling the alarm and immobiliser and drive away. I really have done a lot of extensive searching through aulro and other LR forums looking for a definitive answer, but haven't found any yet.
"Nanocom can diable the immobiliser on the D2 which means you have to disable the whole alarm system in the BCU so all you'll have it's the central locking" from kill immobilizer in ECU TD5 NNN
"no, you can use the remothe either way and when ever you want... this setting will let you disable the alarm with key if the remote fails without neding the EKA.... otherwise the alarm/immobiliser will be triggered if you unlock with key and open the door" from Recommendation for D2 owners | LandyZone - Land Rover Forum
"Can you switch off immobiliser with nanocom, so key or fob just locks / unlocks doors? IE simple door locking function only for remote travel.
Yes, switch off passive immobiliser on nanocom and save settings" from BCU keys, immobiliser and alarm
Was sure i had my bcu configured the right way but maybe theres something blatant im missing , so thanks in advance fellers and i hope this all makes sense. cheers, hank

Hi, please say in a nutshell what is the problem now cos i've got lost in that long thread and can't understand what are you after. I've read twice you thread and i'm still confused but if the alarm settings were like now from the beginning(Alarm-fitted and Alarm option-enabled) you could not have started the engine with a fobless key whatsoever unless the BCU was modified with some invasive method
As about the fob you bought, they sell quite often Rover 75 fobs as being for D2 cos they look the same but there is a missing bit in them which will not let the fob work as it should and a second unlock command is needed. Check if you have the pointed bit on the PCB

Hey mate, yeah sorry on rereading my post on my phone realised its huge. Should have chopped out all the back story and just asked the below question.
What I'd like to know is if its possible to configure the bcu so that in the event of a fob failure for whatever reason, i can still manually unlock the car using the key in the door and this will disarm alarm and the immobiliser and i will be able to drive away. If this is possible, what do i change in my bcu settings as i thought i had it configured accurately to allow this? or is the only way to do this disable the alarm entirely?

This is the fobless key that came with the vechile when i bought it, used no issues for ~3 months before i bought a fob key from heathy/discovery2parts from d2boysclub and programmed, which i now use. I'm away from my truck for a couple days so cant pop open the fob to check as per your attached picture but will do so when im back.
Thanks Sierra, glad youre here as majority of the posts on fobs/bcus/alarms ive been reading including the original 'recommendation for d2 owners thread' come from you.
Hey Sierra, glad to have a reply from you as many of the posts and threads ive read surrounding these issues are yours. Agree initial post way to big - what i'm looking to know is if its possible to configure the bcu so that in the event of fob failure i can manually unlock with the key in the door disabling alarm and immobiliser. Or do i have to disable alarm system completely to do this? from the various threads ive read on the issue i believe my bcu is configured how it should be to achieve this but maybe im overlooking something?
Away from my truck for a couple of days so cant pop open the fob to check against your attached image, was bought from a guy heathy/discovery2parts from d2boysclub, attached image is the fobless key i used until i bought and programmed my new fobIMG-2156.jpg
ps: having a little problem with posting so hopefully this isnt the second reply ive posted to this thread, apologies if theres a double up!!
Ok, if you bought the key from Heathy it's certainly good no need to check it... at the time when i wrote that post on landyzone i had only hawkeye and the info from RAVE which seems to be a bit incomplete... the problem is the list of setting options shown in RAVE for BCU alarm which are marching with the options of hawkeye but nanocom seems to be able to go deeper than that with that "Alarm option"
· Alarm: This setting allows for FITTED or NOT FITTED.
· Alarm option: This setting allows the BCU's built in alarm to be turned off as if there
were no alarm fitted. (possible only with nanocom)the one with red is the only one shown in RAVE and accessible with hawkeye so i dont know what's the difference between the two or what more can the second option do(i didnt investigate as my system works but now you've got me started)... my advice is to set the second to ''disabled'' and see what happens that way and according to the result we'll speak then(you should be able to start it wih the fobless key), meanwhile i'll do some tests on my own vehice tomorrow as i have nanocom too now and report my findings
anyway if no joy you'll have to set the first alarm option to "not fitted" to get rid completely from the immobiliser
