Just a stab in the dark, but could it be the TPS?
Yesterday we went to Melbourne and back from Moe. The trip there was all good apart from a freeway closure doubling the trip time. But.
On the way back the gearbox decided to play funny buggers. It had a hissy fit and the torque converter wouldn't lock up no matter what I tried until we got to about Officer where it started to play perfectly again. The gearbox was pronounced in good health by an auto specialist a few weeks ago and had a load of new oil and a new filter put in.
There were no flashing M&S lights or MIL.
So I had a play this morning with the Nanocom and found that the MAF only gets up to about 450. There's a "driver demand error" and a "P1884 CAN MESSAGE MD_IND INVALID (FLAG F_TL_MES)" fault. I've cleared both.
From what I have read so far, the problem could be a "dodgy" TC or "something" else. Today I'll drive around with the MAF disconnected and see if that makes any difference. The dreaded red plug had a bit of oil so that's been cleaned out so we'll see how we go. The aircon drain pipes have been extended and routed well away from the XYZ switch and that is reasonably new. I have had one instance of flashing M&S lights which seemed to be fixed by unplugging and reseating the read plug and clearing the P1884 fault. I didn't look any more at the time because it was belting down with rain..
My questions are, am I likely looking at a TC or some electrical mailaise ? Is it possible that the P1884 fault or a dodgy MAF could be at the root of the problem ? What other things should I be looking for ? Is there any data that I can record with the Nanocom that may help diagnosing the issue (if indeed there is one) ?

That fault code is about engine torque info from the ECM and engine power can be affected by oil in the loom cos it acts as insulator and PWM is quite sensitive to contacts... first of all replace the injector loom cos simply cleaning the oil from the red plug is just like a massage to a wood leg.
Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
The injector loom has just been replaced. I think the oil is coming from what was already in the engine loom. I'll keep cleaning the red plug until it stops.
I really like "massage to a wood leg" as an expression of futility...:-)
I've also replaced the MAF with a known good one so that should be OK now. I've also cleaned the AAP/MAP sensor (the one in the inlet manifold).
I also forgot to mention that this car has the EGR delete done.

I suspect you might find the engine fault code and the TC lockup unrelated.
First check the transmissionis full of ATF using the correct procedure in the book. When the ATF level drops the first sign is losing TC lockup.

Is the car also down on power? I recently experienced similar symptoms re transmission, after a bit of a rigmarole, a new MAF rectified all issues.

The P1884 code is from the "autobox" section of the Nanocom. The driver demand fault is from the engine bit of the nanocom.
It should be Ok - the ATF and the filter were changed by a local auto specialist. I will have a squint at it tomorrow though to put that out of my mind. Best case is that the ATF is a bit low and a top up will fix all the issues.
