you connect the battery and the alarm goes off?
you then press the unlock button on the fob multiple times?
It's enough to press it only once

I assume the alarm is sounding with the good battery connected because the vehicle is alarmed, but the bonnet is open. That's how our Defender works.

    1. Does closing the bonnet stop the alarm?
    2. Does pressing the fob once unlock the vehicle and stop the alarm?
    3. Does doing both 1 and 2 stop the alarm?
    4. If you do 1 and/or 2 and they work, can you then relock and unlock the vehicle with the fob?
    5. Are the batteries in the fob good?
    6. If the alarm is sounding, does unlocking the driver's door with the key stop the alarm?

Apologies if you've already answered any of these questions, but I just wanted to cover several possibilities.

If not, you may need an auto electrician.

No, the vehicle is alared since the battery went flat regardless of how the bonnet is. The only way to stop it once a new battery is fitted is to unlock with the fob if the vehicle is on factory setting. It can be disarmed with key only if the setting was changed to "always disarm with key" .
