Why do you want to remove the oil cooler and plug up the block?
The D2 V8 runs fairy hot and cutting out the oil cooler wont help things at all.
I am attempting to remove the engine oil cooler lines & plug the ports with M20x1.5 plugs, however I am unable to loosen the fitting securing the lines to the engine block.
I cannot exert sufficient pressure on the 22mm open ended spanner to break the fitting free.
I have thought of applying heat, using a gas torch but are concerned about flame damage to nearby components.
Any useful suggested processes?

Yes, it is my intention to remove the engine oil cooler. It should not be a concern, all vehicles after VIN 756821 were not fitted with an oil cooler. Many have removed the oil cooler without detrimental effect.
As originally stated, I am experiencing difficulties in removal of the screwed fittings. May have to obtain a 22 mm flare nut spanner to gain better purchase for removal. I still need to remove the lines to fit the blanking plugs, or to repair/ replace/ refurbish the lines.
It could be that the fittings have galled and will not come off without ruining the threads. That happened with my P38A's oil cooler.

Thanks for your input. Have managed to get the threaded fittings undone. Purchased a 22mm spanner with narrow jaws & was able to get better purchase on the fittings. Plugs fitted to both inlet & outlet ports, cooler lines freed from support brackets. Now need to release both lines at the cooler inlet & outlet. RAVE instructions not much help.
Advice on procedure to release will be appreciated.
