My D2 has a second battery, this battery is located behind the drivers side rear wheel arch, it seems to only be connected to the Anderson plug.
As far as I can tell it does nothing else?
Behind the main battery under the bonnet) in the place where the jack usually goes is this set up in the picture.
I assume this has something to do with charging the second battery? But don't really know what all this stuff & wires are for. It seems like a lot of kit just to charge the second battery.
Can anybody give me an idea of what all this stuff does? Should/does it do more than just charge the second battery? Do I, sometime, get an auto sparky to have look & see if we can simplify the set up or at least make it so I can start of the second battery?
Best pic I could get.

REDARC system will be something like Tim's Traxide which protects your starter battery from going flat, and also recharges a partially flat starter before charging the second. Others will know more about the REDARC system.
As a starting point, put a multimeter on each battery after a good run and then a couple of hours settlement to check the voltages.
