LT230 switch on top of case

    Hi all,
I've just received my new lt230 from Ashcrofts for my 2004 Discovery 2 TD5. In the attached image I have circled a switch that existed in in my old tcase but was not connected. The previous owner swapped in a second hand transfer case so it might not be on the Disco 2 originally. Ashcrofts have inserted a steel plug in it's place unlike the red plastic screw-in bungs where you are expected to swap out senders etc. It seems like it is supposed to stay plugged. Any thoughts on this switch? Is it a neutral switch and does the 2004 Disco have one normally? It wasn't connected with the last tcase so I guess it won't make much difference seeing as everything was functioning in terms of 4wd low and high range until the tcase lunched itself. I couldn't find much info online through Google and manuals etc. Cheers
    Dave

That is the High /Low switch that tells the ECU that the transfer case is in low ratio and changes the throttle pedal curve and AFAIK also enables the transmission gear lock, ie the change from Sport to Lock which locks in a selected gear in low ratio. Did you notice if you had lock in low range?

I looked at several pics on Google and some had a switch on the front , but I seem to remember that mine was on top .(2002EU3 originally without CDL but now fitted)

the switch in the pic is for the interlock ( North American market ) not required.
Same switch, when positioned at the front of the high / low shaft is the high / low switch where yours should be.
Being a 2004 you should also have 2 diff lock switches

I'm interested to know more about there being two diff lock switches. My old case functioned with just one with the dash lighting up nicely. I'm also interested to know why I have an old case with the NAS neutral switch even though it was second hand. I'd love to be pointed to a diagram of the two switches.

That rave shows the switches in a different spot to the post 03 cases I've done , which have them inline where the pre 03's single switch is located
