I just pulled a dirty wire off starter motor, wiped it, and then put it back and it started. It had also let me clear m and s lights this time

What are you up to next weekend ED? There's a couple of jobs you could come and do to mine.

Its so far still good! Dad and I went and got the hay (from farmer nearby) Hopefully it still ok for me to get to my medical appointment on Wednesday. I did discover I've lost another light in the dash! The one that tells me centre diff is locked Please help, M and S flashing lights, car dead muddy paddock (drive in to deposit the hay) but felt and behaved as it should with diff locked but no light telling me it was. I have concluded that my car is just weird Please help, M and S flashing lights, car dead it doesn't illuminate the display part where the kms are displayed anymore either. Think I'll pull it out soon and replace any leds that I can

If you've got a battery charger, put it on charge overnight.

Check the battery clamps to be well tigtened then measure voltage with multimeter on it while you turn ignition to crank, if it drops below 10V it will not start and means that the battery is gone which can be due to faulty alternator too so once started see the voltage again, it must be around 14V. Also chek for oil in the ECU red plug cos oil act as isolator on the CAN pins hence that fault code and flashing M+S

I would suggest you buy a new battery. My D2 did similar and I found it was the battery failing. CTek charging did not help. Once installed, all problems went away. Good luck.

    Hi ED
in to deposit the hay) but felt and behaved as it should with diff locked but no light telling me it was. I have concluded that my car is just weird
Your car is before 2003 so the CDL was never connected with linkages as standard equipment.

The Body ECU on pre 2003 cars is wired to only accept a certain sequence of locking the centre diff and starting the car as it was used on dynos as it had to be locked from underneath the car.

AFAIR it is start first then lock centre diff which will then show the light, but I may be wrong as I am old . But try both ways and you should find one way works.

    Regards PhilipA

Mine had the CDL linkages fitted by the previous owner (and then they broke so a new cable was fitted when transmission was rebuilt a few years ago) I normally always have the light light up on the dash when I lock the centre diff, this was first time it has not lit up in the time I have owned it
