When is the last time you had the auto serviced?
Looking for some opinions on what's going on with my transmission (TD5 auto).
After not driving for a few days (say 2+ days sitting, and worse if it's been cold), on start-up and selecting any gear, the is a 2-4 second delay before any movement happens. Once it engages, it does so without any roughness or clunks, and is perfectly fine in all other respects.
So, what's the prognoses on this and, should I take any preventative actions (change to certain fluid etc.) or, is the old girl just slowly giving up on me?

Serviced with new filter and oil about 10 thousand k's ago by a well known indi. I first noticed this slow engagement around 3-4k km later. Changed oil myself again but it looked fine - still bright red. Temperatures never over 100deg, and gear changes are not clunky suggesting the box is mostly in ok condition, and other than the outlined issue, is functioning perfectly normal. What is happening over time when not running that shouldn't? Fluid somehow draining out of the system back into the sump? A blockage - lines slow to build initial pressures but ok once reached?
Use the search function plenty of info and pretty common....

Yes, I can do that; although, I don't suppose you would be willing to throw me a bone here and provide a keyword or two or to get me going?
Also read below link, may explain why change after a few km after service. Cleaning aspect of fluid....at least no major issue caused...now done I'd keep changing ATF on reasonable intervals.
