    Torque converter upgrade

I have a td5 running 24 psi with hybrid turbo and remap. I want to upgrade my torque converter. I’m thinking a D2 V8 torque converter. Any tips?
move looked at the Ashcroft kit but nearly 2g to get it here when I’m thinking I could get the same result for cheaper. Anyone’s advise who has done this would be awesome.

I got one very similar from Automatic Transmissions R Us here in Perth (Balcatta) quite a few years ago. I would not be surprised if one of your local trans specialists could oblige?

This won't help you much, but I'd certainly recommend the V8 torque converter upgrade. It's still the best modification I've done to my D2a Td5 and completely transformed the way it drives. I have their old setup - the new one looks like a bit more work/modification to fit it were the old was straight bolt in replacement.

If you do end up going the Ashcroft-Transmissions route you may be able to locate a Td5 torque converter locally in the UK and have it delivered to there to avoid the GBP 200.00 core deposit charge. If I recall correctly, they also used to waive this for international purchases.

But you might be looking at this all wrong as Ashcroft-Transmissions now sell the fitting components in a kit (TD5HDKIT) so that you can fit the V8 torque converter sourced from anywhere. See Ashcroft Transmissions . So instead of purchasing the torque converter from them, just buy the kit and then source the torque converter locally.

These are the components required to fit the TD5 heavy duty torque converter, you will need a P38 4.0 or a P38 4.6 Mems (thor) or Disco 2 V8 converter.

    Torque Converter Technologies in Melbourne.

V8 based TC for the TD5.
Brazed turbine vanes, bigger clutch, etc and you don't need to mod the bell housing like the current Ashcroft version.
Quite a few on here are running them
