Engine miss lack of power V8

The problem is a cylinder misfire under load and lack of power.
Scan tool says multiple cylinder misfire . Misfire cylinder 4.
    1. I have checked compression and it is within 5psi across all cylinders
    2. Removed spark plugs and cylinder 4 plug is black. The rest are ok. All plugs are new
    3. Tested spark under load and all ok and consistent
    4. Replaced MAF
    5. Replaced CPS
    6. O2 sensors replaced
Engine runs fine while vehicle is stationary. It only has the issue once it goes under load. Previous owner said it developed this problem so the vehicle has been sitting for 12 months.
Any thoughts from anyone on this issue ?

    Welcome to the forum.

Ignition module is where I'd start - they can be prone to failing slowly like this and giving a weak spark - easiest way is to replace them with a BIM024 module - have a look at this thread - Lucas ignition amplifier replacement by Bosch 024 - many members here have done this one (Including myself) and it it works very well.

That would be for a D1. D2 uses the Bosch system(no dizzy), so ignition is via the coil packs.

It is posted in the D2 section and he did say V8 - should have been obvious . Just picking on you because you were picking on my home town of Newcastle in the other thread - just about to leave to drive there in about 30 minutes - oh yeah that is what we can still do up here - go for a drive in the country, no curfew, no gestapo passes .

For the original question - yes coil packs and leads. Have fun replacing those coil packs

Well now it is now you've said that and I've had a look! Maybe I should try that to start with - I just saw it pop up in the new posts - didn't even check which section it was in.

    Hmmm..
I checked the spark under load and appears to be working fine. I am wondering if it is an injector or fuel pump issue

How do you test spark under load?

anyway, injectors are not a common issue,, by now the original fuel pump should have been replaced,, not common for the replacement to have needed replacing at this stage.

there is a schrader valve on the injection rail at the back of the engine, connect a pressure guage to that,,

please dont ask me what the rail pressure should be---

    Ask me now!

fuel reg on top of tank, constant pressure in line of 3.5bar, excess is returned to the pump fuel pot.
