    Disco 2 v8 2004

Hey guys, new to the forum. First post.

Finally bought myself a LandRover ✌️

Already falling in love with it, however... famously, notice some oil leaks on the floor in the driveway.

I’m no mechanic so I’m after some advice on good knowledgeable Land Rover mechanics in Perth west aus and possible what the issues may be.

    Thanks heaps guys.

They leak everywhere,, dont start worrying untill it stops!
Dont start replacing gaskets untill you have too,, soon enough it will blow a head gasket and you can fix them all ( and go to 4.6L ) then..

Take your D2a to the car wash and give the underside a through cleaning so that you can see where the oil is coming from
This way you will be able to tell what type of oil is leaking (diff and transfer case oils stink) and where it is coming from.
I recently had a small leak at the front of my 4l V8 which I thought was the front crank seal leaking But it turned out to be a small "O" ring on the oil pump that had hardened over the last 15 years and was an easy fix.
How many K's has you D2a done as the V8's are notorious for head gasket failures.
Most of all Enjoy the car On and Off road as the sedate appearance of the D2 is quite deceiving and you will find it VERY capable in the soft/rough stuff

Yeah going to clean the undercarriage on the weekend to suss out a particular location and then reassess the situation. I’ll put some pictures up then I guess!

    Disco’s got 280k. Wouldn’t say it’s a huge amount of k’s. Yea that’s what I’m hoping it’s not. Praying it’s not

There is a good US youtube video going over the V8.

The one thing I remembered was upgrading the thermostat to the TD5 to stop the overheating. I'll see if I can find the link.

Basically all the main faults have good work around's. Just do them before it costs you was my takeaway.
