All D1/2 diff ratios ate the same, the harness swap would be easier during the engine swap.
I have managed to acquire a 2000 Discovery 2 TD5 with a broken motor from a wrecker. He was not interested in breaking it, so I took it off his hand for $700. So far I have transferred to my V8 D2 the following:
ARB Bullbar
Rear luggage blind
Interior rear-vision mirror
Both rear tail lights
Battery cover
Two genuine LR keys, both with the transducer chip.
Glove box, fuse cover and console top.
And much more to pick. I plan to remove the passenger seat and rebuild my seat using the cushions.
The body is in better shape than mine but i fear that the job to moving the V8 wiring harness to the TD5 is going to be long and painful, let alone the motor and gearbox. Haven't checked yet whether the diff ratio are the same.
Anyway I plan to remove the motor/gearbox, BCU/ECU/dash and sell them off and keep the carcass for those small parts you break/loose but are too expensive to buy.

MY08 TDV6 SE D3- permagrin ooh yeah
2004 Jayco Freedom tin tent
1998 Triumph Daytona T595
1974 VW Kombi bus
1958 Holden FC special sedan
From my $700 purchase, i have now fitted the following:
Console and gear selector. Repaired the switch mounting section with aluminum to secure the switch block.
All four door seal. Car appear to be quieter and doors slightly harder to close.
Dashboard cover. I plan to turn one of the latching switches into a spotlight switch.
Rear 2 D-rings.
So I am really please with my purchase and the CFO agrees. A win in both cases.
