start with the bonnet switch.
I know that if a door is slightly open, then the car will not lock and the horn sounds. This is what is happening to me, except the doors are all closed properly and the bonnet is down and latched. I can lock the doors with the switch on the dash, then lock the drovers door with the key.
Any ideas on where to start?
Thanks
Julian

start with the bonnet switch.
Mine will lock with bonnet up. The horn sounds but it still locks.
I would still check the it though. If that is good I would then start by checking each door lock switch.
I would start with the drivers door as it is the most used. The BCU thinks there is a door open when there isn't.

Our Defender wouldn't lock when the bonnet switch failed, but I'm not sure if that is your problem.
The battery cover was out of place, holding the bonnet up enough to stop the bonnet switch switching.
I did not notice this last night or this afternoon.

I'm glad that the bonnet switch gave a legitimate warning. I got caught with the same symptoms once when a spare key was hiding in my wife's handbag in the boot. The car absolutely refused to lock. It took a few minutes to figure out the cause of the D4's refusal. This was not long after I suffered the dreaded door-lock-sticking syndrome so I was a bit concerned that something else had failed...
