Keen to hear how it goes
So tonight after work I took the standard turbo back off. One of the easier jobs to do on the disco[emoji16]. Hopefully i get a chance to install the vgt turbo tomorrow.
Below is a pic of the hybrid turbo and vgt turbo side by side. Attachment 166264
So I finally got some time to put the turbo on today[emoji3]. Tomorrow I will put new oil and filters in it before I start it. The oil has literally only done 1000km before the last change but Allisport recommend fresh oil. Attachment 166466
Also a question for those who have a vgt turbo installed.
Do I get rid of the waste gate modulator completely?
Do I keep the plug connected on it?
And where do I run the hose off the turbo?
Thanks
Chris
Bypass modulator from turbo outlet pipe connection direct to VGT. If you really want the best - fit a connection on the EGR blank on the inlet manifold to the VGT. Gives real boost figures.
Leave modulator connected to loom and just put plugs on the connections for the hoses (or loop the hose that went to turbo back into line from main pipe).
It depends on how the turbo is designed, I *think* most vgt are designed to be plumbed straight into the boost pressure in the intake.
If you plugged one of these styles into the WGM you would write possibly badly damage the turbo and be logging overboost continuously.
I think most are designed to operate with raw pressures, not modulated ones.
The supplier will know.
Cheers
James
It has been mayhem at home and work at the moment. I'm hoping to have it finished and test driving Saturday afternoon[emoji16]. I've attached a picture down below. Is this where I should attach the turbo hose or should it be below on the steel pipe? Then I just have to connect the waste gate module hoses in the correct position as per what Tombie suggested. Looking forward to finishing it. Attachment 166576
