Did the 1st repair 15 odd years ago using a spit pin and Devcon plastic steel 2 pot mix (always carry some on trips) was in the Victorian high country when a stick broke that bit was going to replace it but never did.
The second one happened other day putting it down to plastic getting brittle and maybe not slowing down for speed humps broke both ends so some super glue and cable ties to hold it together but if this happened out bush i reckon a stick and tape would do same trick to get you home.
